39:1. ਮੈਂ ਆਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਚਲਣ ਦੀ ਚੌਕਸੀ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ, ਭਈ ਕਿਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਪਾਪ ਨਾ ਕਰਾਂ। ਜਿੰਨਾ ਚਿਰ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ ਲਗਾਮ ਆਪਣੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਖਾਂਗਾ।

39:1. [For the music director, Jeduthun; a psalm of David.] I decided, "I will watch what I say and make sure I do not sin with my tongue. I will put a muzzle over my mouth while in the presence of an evil man."

39:1. I said to myself, "I will watch what I do and not sin in what I say. I will hold my tongue when the ungodly are around me."

39:1. I said, I will take heed to my ways, That I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, While the wicked is before me.
